The Swan Valley
The Swan Valley is Australia’s oldest wine region. Here you can sample award-winning local product and sample fresh fruit straight from the tree.
With over 70 cafes and restaurants dotted throughout the area, you’ll never be stuck for somewhere new and interesting to eat. Sample local gourmet delights such as olives, cheeses, preserves, chocolate, nougat and ice cream… to name but a few.
It’s not just about food and wine in the Swan Valley. There is plenty to do in the great outdoors if you’re so inclined. Hiking, horse riding, cycling and golf are popular in the region.
If arts and culture are more your scene then you won’t be disappointed. The Swan Valley has a rich heritage and Indigenous culture.
The town of Guildford brims with charm and colonial character. Take the heritage trail and you’ll discover historic pubs and beautifully restored cottages. While away the day meandering through antique shops, boutiques and art galleries before enjoying an afternoon of local music in one of the hotel beer gardens.
Visit Caversham Wildlife Park, only 15 minutes drive from the Village, where you can get up close and personal with one of Australia’s largest collection of koalas, wombats and kangaroos.
Dubbed Australia’s “sunniest capital city”, Perth exudes an eclectic urban vibe with bustling bars, restaurants, shopping and culture abounding whilst still retaining much of its natural charm.
A visit to nearby Rottnest Island is a must where you can meet Australia’s cutest (and most photogenic) marsupial, the quokka.
Middle Swan Village is 30 minutes from the Perth CBD.
Midland is the main retail precinct of the Swan Valley. It is considered the commercial hub of the region with the Midland Gate Shopping Centre and a vast array of shops located along the Great Western Highway.
It is also considered the cultural hub of the region where fantastic live events are held including comedy clubs, pop-up bars and waterparks.
The rural heart of the Swan Valley, Gindgegannup exudes country charm. The region is full of natural walking trails and National parks.
It’s Indigenous name, Gidjeejarnup means “the place where spears are made”.
